The launch of 100 Hours of Astronomy activities was with the kids on the morning of Wednesday the first of April. The activity was held in Sana Al Sham school in Sahnaya district near Damascus. This school includes pupils in the essential learning category, ranging from 6 to 15 years old.

The portable planetarium of SAAA (diameter 15 meters, maximum capacity of 50 persons) was mounted in the yard of the school. Then the pupils took their turn in witnessing the show. Short and comprihensible lectures were presented about astronomy and the celestial sphere. A lot of information about the solar system and the planets were given through various presentations.

About 523 pupil attended the shows from all ages, in addition to the staff of teachers and administrators of the school. The activity was so a huge success that we decided to organize a star party for the children of the school and their families later in 2009.
